The Big Bull Frog

Posted: June 22, 2011 in Uncategorized

The water shimmers then
suddenly the movement in the
water is gone.
The calming croak of
the frogs have disappeared in the air.
All is quiet, just the drip
and drop of rain.
The nitrogen filter in the wetland
that keeps the water safe.
The rain stops and I spot  the
king of all the bull frogs.
I sneak to the water’s edge by
the dogwood and flowers.
The squish and squash of my drenched
rubber boot may scare the frog but
it doesn’t.
It’s right beside me, the light
gleaming off its back like a polished
rock.
I lean in and catch the frog very
carefully.
It’s shocking green back and
tremendous size is distracting.
That frog was the most beautiful thing
I’ve ever seen.
I gently set him down and watch him hop
home he’ll be fine.
The water shimmered, then went silent.
The only sound was a sigh of relief because
I helped keep the ecosystem safe.

Trench war on the farm.

Posted: June 17, 2011 in Uncategorized

The long bus ride to Tillsonburg where we would meet Robin Barker James the leader of our adventure. Robin was going to teach the class what war was like. Also about the devastation it causes and effects it is still having on the world today. World War 1 started on July 28th 1914 and ended on November 11th 1918. the date of our trip was June 16th 2011.

Down in the trench with the enemy coming ready to defend the line.
The beat of my heart is all I hear until SHOT came out of nowhere. I thought when to throw the grenade trying to hear foot steps. I feel the energy ready to explode out of me it was unbearable.  I see them and know it was time to hold my position. Suddenly I get a big surprise with two grenades thrown at me it was over so quick. I fell back to my other position. I hoped we can hold out.

I learned a lot at Robin’s farm about war and that it causes just as much psychological damage as physical damage. I learned about the hardships the men had to endure in and outside of the trench line. I learned about the Lee-Enfield rifle and Ross rifle also grenades. I learned how to fight with a bayonet using the parry and thrust. The most interesting thing I got the privilege to learn about was the evaluation of trenches and how the men had to adapt to the change. The saddest part was when he told me how many men had died for our freedom.  It was the most interesting field trip that involved learning I have ever been on and I enjoyed the opportunity to be there.

Where I’m From

Posted: May 13, 2011 in Uncategorized
I’m from twelve hours of hard work,
From fields I grow up to love
from soccer that I loved to play.
I’m from frog collecting in the summer,
from “simmer down” and  Lego-mostly star wars.
I’m from Lonely Island’s “I’m On A Boat”
and fuzzy peaches.
I’m from life on the ground,
from wheat and tractors,
from “Two and Half Men”
and Charlie Sheen.
I’m from  “Call of Duty Black Opps” and Hockey,
from  “Percy Jackson” and construction,
from“avoid the bull, he will charge so look out”.
I’m from nowhere and everywhere,
from here or there but I’m here to stay.
I’m from the “ Sweat of a man’s brow
and the strength of his back  alone
will get you anywhere”.
Home is a place that I have come to find
and love after a long time searching.

“Sweat of a man’s brow” and “the strength of his back  will get you anywhere”
- That is a way of life me and my dad live by everyday.
We don’t get equipment until we can’t do it.
I have found my home and I’m staying.

Hints and Tips.
This art will not be like a real Baboon going crazy but it is very close and by using your imagination will help bring it to life. It was not easy making this tessellation it took some time to visualize it. It was fun making it and it should be fun for the people that make it so have fun. next time it will be more difficult but for now have fun.

Sports are not just fun.

Posted: March 24, 2011 in Uncategorized

Sports are not about being the best athlete or the best team and what I learned from this project was interesting. Coaches in high school give supplements to there kids that are on the team and tell them to take it twice to four times a day. These are teens fifteen and these supplements are causing drastic changes in there body that they can’t handle. To have fun with sports and to be average just eat properly some fats some carbohydrates and drink water through the sport and just have fun.  This is  my glog. http://sgjkffg.edu.glogster.com/false/

Supplements taken by teens.

Groups 4: The Word Shaker

Posted: January 25, 2011 in Uncategorized

The Word Shaker is a story with in the story The Book Thief. It was writen by Max Vandenburg and then is given to Liesel when Max leaves. The peole that helped to finish this work Aaron , Sydney and Tyler. It was fun doing it we were able to complete it in great time.

#1 A man walks into a Nazi shop. It is dedicated to the Fuhrer, and there is cans of Hate and Fear on the shelf.

#2 Some of the Germans have decided to become Nazis. So they get on the conveyor belt. The Nazi are handing the people the Swastika, and they are using the cans of hate and fear to reclaim them as Nazis. They had no choice, by the time Hitler was killing Jews they where in a bind, also because they needed money.

#3 Liesel is holding a seed, and she is going to plant it. It is a seed that will make hope and future that will make the world beautiful.

#4 Liesel had planted the seed , and it is now growing. She is hiding with it, because all of the other trees are full of Swastikas and words like hate.

#5  Some Nazis have come to chop down the tree, because it is pure and not like the other ones, full of hate. They can’t chop down what they don’t understand because hope and love is what they are scared of. They can’t take away a man or woman’s hope no matter what they do or try.

#6. Liesel is sleeping in the tree, because she doesn’t have anywhere else to go, as the other citizens are all brainwashed into Nazis. Liesel is sleeping in the tree because she has hope.

#7 Elsewhere, Max is packing up to leave. He is packing a hammer. Max is staying at a broken-down house to hide, but then sees the tree and goes to it to regain hope.

#8 Then Max found the pure tree, and using his hammer, has pounded nails into the tree, to use as foot rails so he can climb up.

#9 Max made it to the top, and found Liesel sleeping on a branch. They are looking at each other.

#10 Together, they watch the trees full of Swastikas and hate from the safety of  their own tree.

#11 Liesel and Max are walking on a road. They are happy. All the trees are becoming filled with love, they aren’t filled with evil things. The trees are limp because it was hard to fight off the evil, and they are resting now.

The Book Thief Conflicts

Posted: January 25, 2011 in Uncategorized

Is a story about a girl named Liesel and her trails during World War 2. She loses her brother and find a book. Her new family is Hans and Rosa Hubermann. Hans teaches her how to read and write. They find Max and allow him to stay with them even though he is a Jew.

External: character vs character.
1) There are types of character vs character conflict in the book thief. Rudy has been taking many tries to get Liesel to kiss him but Liesel is not going to. The protagonist is Rudy in trying to kiss Liesel. The antagonist is Liesel who is preventing the kiss. I think it will end with Rudy gone and Liesel wishing she kissed him. I think this because in the back of the book it says Rudy dies. Also Rudy acts like he wants to get killed by cursing Hitler (swearing) and giving bread to Jews.

External: character vs society
2) There are types of character vs society conflicts in the book thief.  When Jews are walking through town falling, crying. Hans gave them bread trying to be nice but was punished with a whipping.  The protagonist is Hans trying to be kind. The antagonist is the German society because no one is allowed to help or be kind to the Jews. I think that the Germans will finally realize that Hitler is not the great  man they think he is. I think that because my background knowledge  shows some Germans trying to change the Germans in the way they think. Also in another  true story I read a teenager uses a radio to help free the Germans from Hitlers lies.  By Azarius

Internal: character vs self.
3) There are many types of internal conflict in The Book Thief. The ring of  the bell the fighting never ends for Max when he fights the Fuhrer at night. The fighting can’t stop because Max will not stop wanting to fight him in the internal war. The protagonist is Max trying to stop fighting Hitler. The antagonist is Maxs mind not letting him run from the fear of losing to Hitler. I think that Max will lose the thought of fighting Hitler. I think it because Hitler is not what Max wants to fight. It is the thought of his family giving him away so he could be safe from the German.
